Even after all this, Kabir Khan’s Kabul Express managed to bag the Indira Gandhi Award for the Best First Film by a director. “I was pinching myself when I got this news. It is hard to believe,” says Kabir.
“This award comes at a time when I had thought that everything was over and done with. Two years after its release, getting such a prestigious award is a great honour and a total surprise.” Kabir feels that awards are morale boosters.
“It gives you a reason to work better for your next. But yes, it also puts you in a high-pressure zone. Your next project gets critically evaluated.” Kabir’s love for strong political influence in his movies will continue in his next untitled venture. “It is still untitled but it has a political theme. It is a story of three friends played by John Abraham, Irrfan Khan and Neil Nitin Mukesh,” he says with a smile.
